This is national heritage site declared by Gov Of Mauritius.
This temple was built in 1902, following the arrival of indentured labourers from Maharashtra, India. In the village of Cascavelle, where it welcomes devotees all year round, the temple is recognizable by its three domes. This is national heritage site declared by Gov Of Mauritius.
The whole area is surrounded by beautiful mountains, sugarcane fields, lush greenery. Part of the temple is made of carved volcanic rock from the vicinity, conferring the temple a unique look and feel.
Devotees around this village perform various types of Pooja in this temple which are inherently performed at Maharashtra. Some time ago Hon. Dy. C.M. of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Phadnavis visited this temple when he came to Mauritius in May 2023.
You will find celebration of Ashadhi, Karthiki, Gapapati, Holi, Navratri judiciously done in this temple every year. Jhakari dance form which is originated at Konkan area of Maharashtra is still performed here at Ganesh Festival.
